Dione has regions that are both very smooth and areas that are very heavily cratered. The largest crater of Dione is 150-kilometer wide crater near its bottom and is over 4 kilometers deep. The smoother areas of Dione have probably been resurfaced in the past, probably by volcanic flows of molten ices.
